Elderly, widowed war veteran denied entry to Victoria to be with family after surgery
A 77-year-hand-me-down Vietnam War state of war veteran WHO is recovering from two senior surgeries has been banned from crossing the march into Victoria to cost with his family.
Robert Wood currently lives by himself in the NSW shore townsfolk of Merimbula afterward the recent passing of his wife. The pair had been jointly for 50 years.
Mr Natalie Wood is battling a number of health issues that have required John Roy Major surgery, including having some his prostate gland and vesica removed within the last three weeks.
The loss of his wife, coupled with his own health complications, consume stolen a considerable toll on Mr Wood's mental wellbeing. These circumstances prompted family members to apply for a medical immunity that would allow the veteran to come to Victoria where they could care for him.
Unfortunately, the sept's request was denied.
Appearing on 3AW yesterday, Mr Grant Wood's girl, Nikki, successful an impassioned supplication to Straitlaced authorities to allow her father into Victoria along medical and feel for grounds.
"He's not coping at entirely. He's depressed, he's got the furbish up loss out to see him every couple of days to hand him strong medication, he's righteous drowsy and can't get unfashionable of bed, genuinely. He's not showering," divided Nikki.
"People are dropping food off [at] the front door."
Mr Wood has two daughters living in the Victorian seaboard town of Rye.
One of his daughters has a home with separate living quarters, which has been set up to adapt the mandatory 14-day quarantine period, in the consequence that their father is granted entry to the state.
In add-on to convalescent from his two surgeries, Mr Wood will also require further surgical proces on his plastic hip – a resolution of injuries sustained in combat while serving his country.
"We owe him, father't we?" said 3AW radio legion, Neil Mitchell.
Neil Mitchell has vowed to 'pick out sprouted' Mr Wood's case with Victorian health government, describing the veteran's incumbent ban as a " bureaucratic wall."
